May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month—a time to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of the AAPI community that have shaped the history and culture of the United States.
From music and (delicious) food, to film and art, to medicine and politics, AAPI people and culture have significantly contributed to so many facets of our society. Case(s) in point: Kamala Harris becoming the first female and first Asian American Vice President in 2021, Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite winning the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2019, and of course the sensational K-pop bands like BTS and BLACKPINK topping the charts.
Speaking of which… At obé, we’re celebrating and honoring AAPI artists all month long with themed classes featuring new and noteworthy Asian American artists as well as classic icons. And stay tuned on social for some BTS content (meaning behind-the-scenes, not the band—sorry!) from AAPI staffers of obé HQ.
